School Programs
CPI's Youth Enrichment Program (YEP), now in its eleventh year, produces diverse educational and cultural presentations in the 35 schools of the 14 San Luis Valley area school districts plus the San Luis Valley Boys & Girls Clubs. Several thousand youth participate each year. Past presentations have included a falconer, a portable planetarium, a robotics troupe, Australian Bush Poets, a Cuban band, Japanese Taiko drummers, Aztec dancers, traditional music from India, Celtic acts, a Flamenco dancer, a steel drum band, drumming workshops, Zimbabwean marimba music, an African Kora player, a Moroccan duo, and the first-ever viewing in the United States of the 1,200-year-old sacred Treasure Dances from Bhutan. Through donations and grants, CPI subsidizes 50 to 100% of the cost to the schools and handles all production.
With so many under served schools and youth, there is a huge need, but tremendous opportunity. We now provide over fifteen school performances a year but, with your donation we can do even more.
